In this project, I identify a potential systematic error in the advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (aLIGO). A potential molecular influencer for light sources in interferometry is identified and its effects are predicted. This is accomplished through the modeling of redshift as a function of the distance and density of the medium. The result implies both a loss of energy and velocity during the propagation of the light sources in aLIGO.

The purpose of this dissection was to figure out the similarities between a fetal pig's anatomy and that of an infant; while also exploring the organs and organ systems of a fetal pig, to understand how these body parts work correspondingly to maintain homeostasis within the body.

There are a few powerful methods to simulate smoke or fire (such as NIST's FDS & Smoke View), but the visual component is missing. With modern computing capabilities, it is becoming more and more viable to visually simulate fire while maintaining accuracy. I plan on using the methods of the attached file coupled with the Unity 3d Game Engine to create a simple gaseous fuel model that will focus on three basic phenomena. This model will act as a base. The three phenomena are the blue core, black body radiation, and the soot that occurs as the flame cools. An implicit surface will track the reaction zone, between this zone two incompressible flow equations will be coupled after calculating the fuel and product respectively(combined with a vorticity confident term). The blackbody radiation is modeled using a stochastic raymarching algorithm(chromatic adaptation is used ). All relevant equations and methods will be utilized as closely as possible in order to maintain maximum accuracy.

In this project I wanted to find the answer to, " Is the proportion of females with symptoms of depression greater than the proportion of males with symptoms of depression?" My findings were unexpected, and proof that depression is a serious mental illness in teenagers.

The purpose of this experiment was to test the concentration of squalene from various oils. I would use these results to compare them to shark liver oil, which is high in squalene. This research is used to uncover an alternative to shark oil used in vaccines. Squalene is the main component in shark oil used in vaccines. It helps vaccines be more effective by boosting the immune system. This alternative can reduce the harvesting of sharks for their oil. To conduct this experiment, I used a spectrophotometer to measure the wavelengths of squalene in each oil. Then, once compared to the shark liver oil, I can use the results to determine what oils could be used to substitute shark oil if any. My problem is figuring out the concentration of squalene in each oil based on the graph. I've attached the graph that I am using to compare the oils.

This project will consist of administering a game like test to high school students to evaluate their effectiveness in an aircraft piloting environment. This test will not be a flight simulator, rather it will test their mental workload through the use of simplified inputs and outputs which correlate to real life piloting. The inputs and outputs contain physical and verbal responses from the participant. The test will be broken up into four phases of flight (take off, climb and cruise, approach, and landing) which will each require a unique ratio of "talk to move" responses. Their average heart rate will also by measured for each phase of flight. Average BPM is a widely used measurement tool of mental stress. The goal is to correlate the results with other professional studies (one source will be attached) and make a claim on the effectiveness of untrained high school students.

My goal for this project was to see how sound affects bacteria growth. I wanted to observe how the sound waves move in the water and how different noise spectrum colors would affect the growth. I wanted to put bacteria into a container of water. This water would be distilled and only contain the correct bacteria. I would then submerge the speaker and document the results. My main problem is I do not know how to gather results in an affordable way. How do I do this?

The use of gene therapy for various medical conditions has become more widespread over the years. With it has come the question of its efficiency as a treatment for dementia, slowing the onset of it or preventing impairment altogether over successive treatments. The current drugs for dementia, Acetylcholinesterase and NMDA antagonists, fail to stop the progression of the disease, but only temporarily curb the symptoms.Through prior research, I found that there are grounds for gene therapy to be utilized as a preventative measure for Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and that it can eventually be practiced in healthcare systems of the U.S. and the rest of the world. To seek more information on the topic and test the validity of this claim, I plan to send a 14-question survey to numerous doctors and researchers with experience in the field of gene therapy and dementia.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the growth pattern of different mammalian cell lines grown in various media. My original intent for an experiment was to study the effects of dexamethasone on the growth patterns of cells, but I do not have access to dexamethasone. Instead, I decided to focus on the growth patterns of the cell lines, without adding a substance to the cultures. There are some challenges with this experiment. First, I do not have the resources. I do not have the means to purchase the four cell lines I was intending to grow, along with the medium they grow in. Second, growing cell cultures is difficult and I am inexperienced and lack guidance. Growing and maintaining cell cultures is a complex task that requires many precise variables such as nutritional components, osmotic pressure, and pH levels. To my knowledge, there are not local mentors who could guide me through this experiment.
