Cancer Health Engagement Summer Scholars (CHESS)
The Cancer Health Engagement Summer Scholars (CHESS) program is an eight-week summer research experience for high school students interested in healthcare or biomedical careers. Participants are paired with faculty mentors at the University of Illinois Chicago to work on independent research projects in cancer-related fields and present their findings at a symposium. The program targets students from underrepresented groups and under-resourced communities who are residents of Cook County, Illinois.
