Hk Maker Lab

Hk Maker Lab is a free, five-week summer engineering design program for rising high school juniors and seniors from low-resource backgrounds in New York City. Run in collaboration with Columbia Engineering's SHAPE program, participants complete a 3-week engineering course followed by a 2-week Hackathon for Health Equity focused on developing solutions to health disparities. Program graduates also become eligible to enroll in the NY Bioforce paid internship program the following year.

Must be currently in 10th or 11th grade attending a NYC public or charter high school, and demonstrate educational or economic disadvantage (attending a school with an Economic Need Index of 80%+ or qualifying for Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, or public housing).
