The Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program (ASSIP) at George Mason University provides hands-on, cutting-edge research opportunities for high school and undergraduate students. Participants work one-on-one with faculty researchers across numerous STEM disciplines, gain experience with advanced scientific tools and communication, and earn three college credits.

Eligibility

Must be at least 15 years old by June 18, 2026 (16+ for wet-lab internships). Available in remote, in-person, and hybrid formats. No campus housing available for minors.

Cost
$25 application fee; $1,299 tuition for accepted interns (need-based waivers available)
Financial aid
Need-based waivers available for both the application fee and tuition (students eligible for free/reduced lunch or Pell Grants can request fee waiver codes)
