Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE)
The Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE) is a rigorous summer internship program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for high school students from low-income and educationally under-resourced backgrounds. It introduces scholars to biomedical research through eight weeks of hands-on work in laboratories, supplemented by advanced courses in scientific writing, data analysis, mathematics, and bioethics. The program aims to foster critical thinking and professional development to help students succeed in STEM careers.

Eligibility
Scholars must come from households with collective incomes not exceeding 200% of the federal poverty limit and meet an additional criterion (e.g., first-generation college student, attends a high school where the majority are low-income, or other extenuating circumstances). Program is for high school students.
