The NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) provides high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students with full-time biomedical research training in the NIH Intramural Research Program. Interns work alongside principal investigators across diverse biomedical, behavioral, and quantitative science fields, alongside participating in professional development, resilience workshops, and Summer Poster Day.

Eligibility

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Must be enrolled at least half-time as a high school senior at time of application and graduated before starting, and 18 years old by September 30 (if 17 as of June 1, permanent home address must be within 40 miles of an NIH campus).
