NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP)
The NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) provides high school seniors/recent graduates and higher-education students with full-time biomedical research internships across the NIH Intramural Research Program. Interns conduct hands-on basic, translational, or clinical research within a research group directed by a Principal Investigator. The program includes professional development, educational programming, and presentation opportunities such as Summer Poster Day.

Eligibility
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. High school applicants must be enrolled at least half-time as a high school senior at time of application and have graduated before the internship begins. Must be 18 by September 30, 2027, or 17 as of June 1, 2027 (turning 18 by September 30, 2027) with a permanent home address within 40 miles of an NIH campus.
