Healthcare Experience and Research in Oncology (HERO)
The Healthcare Experience and Research in Oncology (HERO) program (formerly SHE in Oncology) is a two-week synchronous virtual summer program for Wisconsin high school students interested in cancer research and oncology careers. Participants conduct hands-on at-home lab experiments using Drosophila, attend presentations and career panels with faculty, and work in peer groups on a patient case study project.

Eligibility
Must be a full-time Wisconsin high school student (current freshman, sophomore, or junior). Past SHE participants are not eligible. Priority consideration is given to students from rural school districts in areas eligible to receive NIH rural health grants.
