Healthcare Experience and Research in Oncology (HERO)
The Healthcare Experience and Research in Oncology (HERO) program, formerly known as Summer Healthcare Experience (SHE) in Oncology, is a two-week synchronous virtual summer program for Wisconsin high school students. Delivered through a partnership with the eCLOSE Institute and funded by the American Cancer Society, participants conduct hands-on at-home cancer research with Drosophila, attend oncology career panels and faculty lectures, and complete a patient case study project.

Eligibility
Must be a full-time Wisconsin high school student (current freshman, sophomore, or junior). Past SHE participants are not eligible. Priority consideration is given to students from rural school districts eligible to receive NIH rural health grants.
