UCSF Summer Student Research Program

The UCSF Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) provides high school students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds with hands-on biomedical, clinical, and public health research experience. Participants are paired with mentors at UCSF and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, attend weekly seminars and professional development workshops, and present their findings at a research symposium.

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, at least 16 years old by June 1, in grades 10–12 with at least one year of biology and math (typically 3.0+ GPA), and identify as economically, educationally, or medically disadvantaged (e.g., first-generation college, low income, qualifying disability, or rural background).
