The Tyson Environmental Research Apprenticeship (TERA) offers high school students an apprenticeship in university-based environmental biology research and scientific communication at Washington University in St. Louis's Tyson Research Center. Working as paid members of field research teams alongside WashU scientists and university students, participants engage in a six-week summer research experience followed by fall and winter outreach activities and a spring capstone project.
